StinkMaster update and official permission to kill

multiple sprinklers that have been clogged with soapy water on purpose for an experiment

The deer came back the night I installed the StinkMaster smelly sprinkler system, but they entered at a different spot, which might indicate a behavior of avoidance to the smell zone.

One obvious problem is the soapy water clogging up the sprinkler head. I tried switching to a hand held shower unit and it still clogged, but at a slower rate.

We got a call from the game warden yesterday and he gave us a 10 day kill permit. I'll save those details for tomorrow's post.

The calcium ions in water react with soap to form a precipitate that is probably clogging up your sprayer.

It is probably better to just use a perfume solution if you want to continue this experiment.

But you might just end up with perfumed deer nibbling on your vegetables. :-)

Good call! Our water does tend to be pretty hard, and I'll bet that is the exact cause of our clogging problem. Perfume it is...
