We decided to delete scarlet runner beans from our garden this year.

It seemed like they attracted bean beetles that impacted our Masai beans.

I had a similar experience with gourds on a trellis for shade. They attracted tons of cucumber beetles and then got powdery mildew. They were fun to grow but once was enough.
