Mulch machine

craftsman mowerThe quest for an affordable mulching mower with big wheels and a bag attachment was completed today thanks to a nice guy on Craig's list.

Lawn clippings are some of the best mulch you can use on the garden, and now we can take advantage of the lush grass that's been growing in patches around the trailer.

I'm coming to the realization that a person can find anything and everything with a bit of browsing and patience on Craig's list.

Craigs List Rawks! And so does Meetup.com (see my website link to our group). I just wanted to ask about weed seeds. Are you careful to mow before anything has a chance to go to seed? If not, how do you keep the mulch-made-from-grass-clippings from backfiring on you? I mulched with hay instead of straw once and was picking timothy sprouts out of the garden for the rest of the summer.

Very good point about the weed seeds. We'll take your advice and stay on top of the mowing to keep the weeds from going to seed. I mulched with straw once that wasn't as grain-free as it should have been and ended up picking weeds out of my strawberry bed all year too. Not worth repeating!!
