The oaks we thinned out of the woods to make our shiitake logs were struggling when we cut them.

Perhaps that's why so many weed fungi have popped up along with the shiitakes?

Mushroom mourning
Alas, my mushroom logs apparently are not going to do anything. We plugged them early this year, set them in a shady spot under a tree, and waited. And waited. Nothing so far. 😔
