Rubber washer comparison

hose rubber washer comparison and observations
I've noticed that the main reason a water hose starts leaking is failure of the rubber washer. Most new hoses come with a thin black washer that seems to get squeezed to a point where it won't bounce back.

These red rubber washers are thicker and made from a better quality material. You can get a small bag for around a dollar.

Mark, I found some good thick rubber washers with a strainer screen at Tractor Supply last summer. I use them in the hose connecting my 6 gallon water bucket to my PVC pipe with the AvianAquaMiser nipples. It keeps any particles from getting to the nipples and clogging them or causing a drip.
